Our approach
We help people do things better, connect to one another, and dream up new solutions that make a difference for kids.
We push to see the people behind the policy jargon and the numbers. We seek to build connections with clients built on mutual trust, respect, and a commitment to trying new things, listening to stakeholders, and finding solutions.
We guide diverse teams and engage with stakeholders to inform complex policy and systems improvements. We partner with educators and innovators to take meaningful action designed to motivate, grow, and succeed from inspiration to implementation.
Our clients are ready to step out of what’s comfortable and take steps to envision and realize what’s possible.
EdLab Strategies Founder Heidi Guarino is an experienced education policymaker, communicator and storyteller. Her work is deeply informed by research, best practice, and experience viewing education from all angles: as a senior policy consultant at Education First, as a state-level policymaker and communicator at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, as a local, regional and statewide education reporter at the Associated Press, and - most importantly - as a mother to her two children in Salem, Massachusetts.
Heidi has experience in issues ranging from instructional strategies to educator leadership, from high quality instructional materials to social and emotional learning, and almost everything in between. She has worked with educators and policy makers at all levels, including state, school and district leaders, classroom teachers, policymakers, non-profit organizations, advocates, parents, and funders.
Here's a little more about heidi:
I don’t take myself too seriously.
Thanks to my two sons, I know more than you might expect about soccer and superheroes .
I drink chai tea instead of coffee because it’s better.
My dogs Jedi and Rocky keep me honest, keep me moving, and keep me laughing.
I’ve seen every episode of Grey’s Anatomy at least twice, so I’m basically a doctor.
In my spare time I love to sit on the beach with my husband, listen to the waves, and think about what’s possible.
